Romanian Border Guards seize cigarettes worth 6.7 million lei discovered in a truck

Border police officers from the Nădlac Border Police Sector carried out random and unsystematic checks on the communication routes near the border. As part of these checks, a vehicle registered in Romania was selected for inspection, which was parked in a parking lot near the town of Pecica. The vehicle was driven by a 46-year-old Romanian citizen.

Following the physical inspection of the vehicle, border police discovered several packs of cigarettes, for which the driver could not present any documents of origin.

The person and the means of transport were taken to the institution’s headquarters for additional checks, where it was established that the means of transport entered Romania from Hungary on November 27 this year.

Also, the inventory revealed that the vehicle contained approximately 279,000 unmarked packs of cigarettes, worth over 6.7 million lei.
