Swedish arrest four people suspected of manufacturing “incredible amounts” drugs, and selling them via the darkweb

Four people were arrested, suspected of a serious drug offense and a serious doping offense. What started as a local investigation has now grown into an extensive drug and doping case.

One of the suspected principals is a resident of Uddevalla, the other of Kungälv. The police assess that they are both in control of a network of salespeople, and that recruitment for the sale may have taken place via the staffing company where the two men have central positions.

The investigations against the two men began after the turn of the year. Now, a couple of weeks later, a total of nine people are in custody in the extensive drug and doping case – but the case may grow further during the investigation.

In addition to the two suspected principals, two more people were arrested today. They are both believed to have been responsible for manufacturing and packaging in an apartment in Angered. The drugs have been sold via several different websites on darknet, both in Sweden and abroad.

• There is a huge amount of shipments that have gone out. We have managed to access the internet store and believe that it has an impact on the market – we can see that several of the major doping sites have now closed, says reconnaissance leader Per Björkman.

The handling of the illegal preparations has taken place in a professional and large-scale manner. The seizures made in the case have been sent to NFC, the national forensic center, for track safety. Per Björkman states that these are “incredible amounts”:

• There are hundreds of thousands of tablets and doping units – such large quantities that we have not been able to compile it. It took a police car, a police bus and another car to transport all the seizures, he says.

Jesper Rieck, head of the investigation section in Fyrbodal, believes that the case is of great importance when it comes to acting against the crime that is going on via the darknet.

• This is one of the biggest cases we have had in Fyrbodal, and perhaps in the West region, when it comes to doping. Now we come to the part where we talk about the middle ground. The people work in our area, but sales affect the whole country, he says.
