Truck driver arrested with 205 kilos of cocaine

A load of 205 kilos of cocaine was seized from a Slovakian haulier, stopped for a check near the “San Nicola Ovest” service area (Caserta), along the A1 motorway.

The operation was concluded yesterday by the Caserta mobile squad but also thanks to a team work in which the firefighters who hosted the bulky vehicle at their provincial command, the Garibaldi Brigade of the Italian Army, which provided the “Forklifts” to move the platforms and the canine units of the Guardia di Finanza for drug research.

Thanks to the logistical support, during the search the policemen identified a double bottom in the articulated vehicle, obtained under the transported platforms, where the huge load of drugs was hidden.

The haulier was arrested for drug trafficking and the cocaine, which would have produced, if placed on the market, illicit gains of over 10 million euros, was seized.
