Customs officers found 106 kg of marijuana in 95 vacuum-sealed packages in the double floor of a refrigerated semi-trailer. This was announced at a joint briefing today, 04/07/2023, in Vratsa town by prosecutor Elena Staneva-Kirova, spokesperson of the District Prosecutor’s Office – Vratsa, and Svetoslav Slavchev, head of sector in the Customs Rousse Territorial Directorate.

By the risk selection, shortly after midnight on 04/05/2023, customs officials of the Oryahovo Ferry BCP stopped for inspection a truck entering the country. The two drivers explained that they were returning from Spain and were not transporting cargo. During the customs inspection of the refrigerated semi-trailer, the customs inspectors found that only packaging – turnover Euro pallets – was being transported in it.

The customs officers discovered a cover in the floor of the semi-trailer. After opening it, they found that the insulation under the floor of the refrigerated semi-trailer was missing and the space was filled with vacuumed clear plastic bags with a green grassy mass resembling the inflorescences of the cannabis plant. A total of 106,232 kg of cannabis (marijuana) inflorescences, contained in 95 vacuum bags, were found.
