BLITZ actions: goods worth over 1,200,000 lei, discovered by border police

Between August 14-16 this year, border police officers from the Romanian Border Police stopped for control, on DN 5, several means of vehicles traveling on the Turkey – Romania and Bulgaria – Romania routes.

Following the checks carried out, 3,543 items of clothing, footwear, leather goods and perfumery, likely to be counterfeit, inscribed with the names of protected brands, were discovered, as well as 19,200 cigarettes (960 packs) of various brands, without a tax stamp. The goods belonged to Turkish, Romanian and Bulgarian citizens, drivers and passengers of buses and cars, who were unable to present documents attesting to their origin or authenticity.

The goods suspected of being counterfeit, worth 1,178,650 lei , as well as the cigarettes, worth 28,800 lei , were seized for further investigation and placed in the institution’s crime scene.

Currently, investigations are being carried out against the persons in question for committing the crimes of ” putting into circulation a product bearing a registered trademark for identical or similar products and which prejudices the owner of the registered trademark ” and ” possession, by any person, outside the tax warehouse, or marketing on the territory of Romania of excise products subject to marking, according to this title, without being marked or marked improperly or with false markings, above the limit of 10,000 cigarettes “, following which, upon their completion, the necessary legal solutions will be proposed.
