Dismantled an organization dedicated to hashish trafficking with 49 people arrested
The Spanish Civil Guard, within the framework of the Baree operation, has arrested 49 members of a criminal organization that introduced large amounts of hashish on the coast of Cádiz and through the Guadalquivir river. In total, more than 14 tons of hashish have been seized.
The operation began in December of last year 2021, when it became known that a criminal organization, led by several people with extensive drug trafficking records, would be introducing large quantities of hashish along the coast of Cádiz and the Guadalquivir river.
The investigation revealed that the group was led by two drug traffickers who took numerous security measures to avoid police action.
The organization was totally structured: it had a group in charge of logistics that provided the boats and a person that supervised the loading of the bales, the fuel and the food.
These people, in addition to notifying the rest in the event of a police action, were heavily armed to prevent other organizations from stealing the merchandise, which is known in criminal jargon as overturning.
The organization preferably lighted on the coast of Sanlúcar and along the Guadalquivir river. To do this, they used powerful semi-rigid boats, panelable boats, as well as fishing or recreational boats. These people knew the terrain and were looking for stash areas with very difficult access for the Security Forces and Bodies and at the same time easy escape for them. The Civil Guard has carried out 37 searches, authorized by the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 3 of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, in the Cadiz towns of Sanlúcar, Chipiona, Trebujena and in the Village of El Rocío de Huelva.
The operation has concluded with 49 people arrested, the apprehension of 14,380 kilos of hashish, short and long firearms, as well as abundant ammunition, police material, a tri-motor semi-rigid boat, fuel bottles, documentation and mobile phones.
This organization was currently the most active, even transporting up to 20 tons of hashish from Morocco to the peninsula in one month.400 civil guards from OCON-SUR, CRAIN, GAR, ARS, Maritime and Air Service and the Commands of Cádiz, Seville, Huelva and Málaga have participated in the operation.
